Does anyone have a Glowmex TV antenna that works?

I have a 2002 Sea Ray 340. In order for the antenna to operate I have to be sure the accessory switch on the control panel is on. I also have a rotary knob that needs to be adjusted to get the antenna working. My rotary knob is in the small cubby above the sink. That should do it

Mine has been a disapointment as well. I bought it new when I got the boat 5 years ago. I get 5 channels, but 3 are Spanish <I'm in Ft Lauderdale, close to Miami>. I think the amlifer is crapola. If you by pass it, you get as good of signal. I think it is there to fool you, but what do I know.....

I had the same issue. The amplifier didn't seem to make any difference whatsoever. So one rainny day I did some investigative tinkering. There was no power going to the amplifier! Hooked it up via a fresh new line from the panel (with inline fuse of course) and WOW! Now I get 2 1/2 stations some of the time. Not bad for a days work.

I replaced the TVs with HD and in Ft Lauderdale I'd get over thirty channels clear as a bell. Had to replace the gain control this summer and out in the Chesapeake Bay area I still get 8-12 channels Cristal clear. At Rudie's Inlet a couple of weeks ago below VA Beach I got 10-15 channels as well. The new HD TV's work exceptionally well for us as most time when we travel we don't even hook up to the local cable. You do need to check your wiring and make sure it's clear of other wires and has good connections. Once I got the upgraded TV's installed I didn't need anything else at this time.

I don't have the Glowmax on my boat, but a few others in our marina do.
I hooked up the Digital Converter Boxes on three boats this year and they all get approx 60 channels. I get 60 channels on mine also. Of course we are approx 16 miles line of site from downtown Chicago.
Prior to adding the Digital Converter Box I got maybe 3-4 fuzzy channels.

First time I hooked up the Digital Box I used the supplied coax, signal was just so-so.
After I changed to Audio/Video Cables (red, white, yellow) RCA jacks, this made all the difference in the world signal wise.

Picture on my 20" LCD TV is as good as 37" HD LCD on Comcast Cable at home.

As a UHF Digital Antenna - mine works great. It is a terrible analog antenna. But - I assume it is a loop under the plastic. Which would explain why it is such a great UHF antenna. 75% of the digital stations are UHF.

I purchased the digital TV converter box, and use it with the existing antenna. I now get about 12 different channels with a fantastic picture. You are going to need to switch to digital anyway, get the converter box.

I modified the existing TV mount to allow the converter to be mounted just above the TV. The converter takes the place of the TV tuner, so you need line of sight for the remote to work. The install looks and works great.

Jon,
Mine has worked just fine for the last 5 years. I do only go for digital channels, though. I have also used a Terk table top that did a bit better, but it's too directional for being on the hook.
We regularly watch Football, NASCAR, World Series, and college ball on the hook.
I wish they would bring back the Tube. That was a music channel like VH1, but over the air, not on cable.

My antenna quit working, replaced it with another Glowmex it works just fine and the new antenna is digital ready. Glowmex has a lifetime warranty on their antennas. I bought the new one from "IMTRA" sent them the old one they tested it, found it defective and credited my purchase price. I did the same thing with my Glomex stereo antenna. Great deal !!!!!

The new antenna is "digital ready"? I guess the wire coat hanger that was in the old one wouldn't work as good as the "digital ready" wire coat hanger that is in the new one....

They are all digital ready... even the old ones....

Everyone seems to have problems with the Glowmex antenna so has anyone tried a different brand, for example Shakespeare? I plan to install an arch TV antenna this spring and have been looking at different models.

I think I posted this on another thread; here's the one I purchased a two years ago. Even though I have sat I still have the master hooked up to this- quality with the digital local channels seems to be every bit as good as the sat.

Not cheap, but it's commercial quality:
