    Hello Captains,
Has anyone replaced a dripless shaft seal on sundancer 340? What total price I am looking in at for the repair?

    Thanks in advance.

Do you happen to have another seal installed up further on the shaft?

So that means a haul out. The coupler will have to be unbolted, shaft slid back and new seal installed. I recommend lasdrop but you have tides now. Cost of the job will differ all around the country. My estimate would be 2k around here with time, materials, and haul and block.

It may not look like a seal. It may be in a protective carrier on the shaft further up

I found spare seal, will be working on installing it. I was able to remove 3 screws out of 5 on pentagon cap. Cannot get to other 2 screws, any recommendations?

More updates about the task. I spent quite some time trying to install a spare seal, was a pain let me tell you, no room to move, very hard to reach bottom and far side screws. But I was able to unscrew face cap and remove old seal. Surprisingly I found a small tiny spring behind old seal, which might've caused leaking (photo attached), not sure how it got there (no documentation mentioned about spring in Sure Seal kit) - please correct me if I wrong. While I was working on seal replacement - I also found that oil pan is corroded and probably needs to be replaced, photo also attached. Please share your thoughts if you agree on replacing oil pan or if you have any other solutions.

The drip less seal has a tiny spring that is connected to its self . making an O . I've taken the wrong and screwed it in itself to make it a smaller O then fit it back into the seal behind the lip. This causes the seal to grip tighter on the shaft.

If that’s the oil pan, then yes it needs replacement. That will require the engine to be removed. Once you get in, you’ll need to see what else needs replacement/repair.
