As many of you may know an Amberjack has seperate throttle and transmission controls on it's BIII's. My port side control was very quiet and soft after having some service done to the boat. By soft I mean it didn't have any clunk at all when it went into gear. Yesterday when I tried to put her in gear I could push the stick all the way forward and it would not go into gear. I raised the idle RPM just a bit and clunk, it went right in. It may be my imagination but it seems overly easy to go into reverse. At one time, not to long ago that same trans lever was loose feeling and they simply tightened it. (it isn't loose now) It didn't seem "soft" then, that only started after the drive was serviced only a few engine hours ago.

I know the obvious thing to do is to go back to the dealer but they are not close and getting a service call out during spring break is not going to be easy. Is there an adjustment that I should try first? I have guest that would love to go out!

Thanks, you guys are great.

David.........I don't have a specific answer for you but since you have two engines, why not compare the adjustment (and cable movement) on the one that works fine with the other one that's giving you trouble to see what the differences are. You probably just need a simple cable adjustment.

Dave the linkage on a BIII (at least on an AJ) is behind the drive and can not be seen. MMax to the rescue.
