Nice pics. That is what I bought my for (DJI Phantom 3 Standard). However, I feel I need some more "Pilo Time" before flying over water. I joined a DJI drone forum and I can't believe how many guys lose their drones and how many end up in the water.

yeah.. im nervooouuussss for sure.. decent pilot but sketchy landing on bow...
i plan on a DJI but admiral got this entry one for 199 so if it becomes a reef its not so tough to swallow..
...did not know you could insure.. that may step up my DJI P4Pro want! LOL
The bow on my Cobalt is flat....really flat but slick. Maybe a square of neoprene/wetsuit material out there would help.haha yeah the bow landing can be tough. I hand catch it a lot but its nerve racking for the Mavic since the blades are so close to my arm. I think this summer I'm going to make a little landing cradle that sits on the bow out of something soft. That way, if it comes down sideways it'll stop it sliding off the boat and worst case just shred a prop.

I've been wanting a drone but I don't know where to start. I see entry-level anywhere from $100 all the way to the moon. I'm interested in something that allows me to spot tuna from above (need all the help I can get). But like you, I worry about it going to Davey's Locker. I wondered about securing some type of foam to keep it afloat should it hit the water. But then I don't know if it'll weigh it down too much and hinder its lift. Any thoughts??
I've had several smaller toy-type drones that took OK video but were really too small and light to fly well outdoors unless there was NO wind.I've been wanting a drone but I don't know where to start. They have these emergency floats that operate like an inflatable pfd. The larger ones can carry the device no problem (mavic, phantom, etc)
The issue then is the drone itself is not waterproof and if you’re in the salt it will basically be useless.
