I like how they ran into the woods (They'll never catch us! We're too smart for them!)
We saw them screaming around the lake all day, loud and obnoxious boat.

I bet the guy who owned the boat ran home, called the cops and reported this his boat had been stolen.

Was the boat registered? If so, they should be able to find the owner of the boat pretty easily. That would be a good start to see who the two people on board were.
