DVD only works on shore power

I installed a Dvd player, model magnavox dp100mw8b when on shore power it works fine but when where on the hook running the gen it doesn't work anybody know why this would be?

Yes, all other electrical work fine, TV etc.....

I WILL ASK THE OBVIOUS, IS THE PLUG THAT THE DVD IS PLUGGED INTO THE SAME AS THE TV ONE THAT IS GETTING POWER? Are you getting power to that plug?

Yes the plug works and has power....

By 'doesn't work' - you mean no power at all - right?

I would check the voltage at the outlet (on genset power) to be sure it is within acceptable range. Also might want to verify polarity.

Its on the same oulet as the TV, the dvd player will not come on
I have not checked it with a volt meter but I did switch plugs with TV. TV works DVD no...

I wonder if that outlet is just below this DVD's acceptable Power level (say 105V or so, not 120) but the TV's more tolerant of it. Again like the previous poster said, get a volt meter, and measure the voltage there.
