We have an Intelli-power PD2040, with five batteries...all lead-acid and all about a year old. Haven't had any charging, starting or electrical problems with either shore power, generator, or alternators.
Last night, coming in from some terrific mudslides courtesy of Cpt. Chapman, both CO detectors were going off. Being perhaps a bit off my game, I not only didn't remember the posts about the detectors being an early warning system about electrical power...(nor did reading it on the cover penetrate). I disconnected the CO monitors, borrowed a portable marine unit as a spare, and proceeded to a sound sleep. Needless to say, awoke this morning with some starboard voltage (about 11v) and 6v on the port engines. The port engine solenoid will not engage. Shore power is on, connections to the boat from shore power are solid. Batteries are full of water. With the generator on, it doesn't appear that anything is charging. No lights are on my Intellipower PD2040. Earlier in the day, I had washed down the bilge, and I pulled the Smartcraft monitor out to replace the dash about ten days ago, but otherwise, there has been nothing that would affect the power system.
My operating assumption is that either 1) a fuse has blown behind one of the panels (and I'm going after that assumption first by pulling the plastic panels and looking) and 2) the Intellipower unit went south (I'll of course first check to see that there is power going to it). 3) I'll also reconnect the Smartcraft SC500 but I can't imagine that is related. Any thoughts?
