Looking to bring "smartcraft" engine data to a new chartplotter...this has been discussed at varios levels and variants in forums for years, so I'm confident some of you guys have been through this.....!

I currently have the smartcraft gauge in the pictures (front and back)...so I plan to buy the Mercruiser NMEA gateway adapter and other accesories to get to what I have pictured in the diagram ....

Makes sense?....missing anything?. I have zero experience in NMEA or CAN networks...appreciate any advice!!

Ok I think I know what I need, it does not seem worth to buy the gateway adapter but a new fully digital Mercmonitor gauge, which comes with an NMEA adapter by itself for external chartplotters...(cost about the same)...I get a brand new fully digital gauge to replace the old one plus my N2K interface....bingo!.

Kit comes with the harness, I think I only need to add a junction box (to connect existing CAN cable coming from engine) plus an extra resistor and T adapter for the N2K side so I can add my new chartplotter and radio.

Robert thanks it does help..!!!

I will go ahead and order the mercmonitor...plan to connect the existing cable to a smartcraft hub as you did so I don't mess with the existing gauges

New chartplotter in place!.... also upgrading the VHF! Lowrance link 8 with built in GPS and AIS Rx...should interface using N2K with the Ray Axiom for position data.

Need to cut an acrylic adapter plate so it covers the old radio cut out and screw holes....will post progress!!
