I have a 5.7 Mercruiser vdrive that recently has had an issue and any help is greatly appreciated. The engine is 3 years old with 61 hr on it and has ran great until this past weekend. I put fuel in on Friday morning and idled out our channel for a 5 mile run to a local island for the weekend, as I powered down to enter their channel I lost the starboard engine. I tried to start it again an it would start unless i loaded it up on fuel then when it did start i had dark smoot and unburned fuel come from my exhaust. I checked my oil and it was good, no milky appearance to it, I puled my fuel /water separators off and drained the fuel thinking I had water in the fuel that I just purchased, it looked clear and fine. The engine will run good above 1200 rpm and is strong when running under load at 3400 rpm, just has started to load up on fuel and stall at low rpm

Any ideas? Thanks in advance

If it's carb'd, then flooding due to a stuck float in the carb? Maybe choke isn't adjusted right or operating right?
