- 6.2 383 Mag Stroker Engine. 330hp
Bravo III
I bought an '06 240 DA in May, which included a 1+ yr old 6.2 mercrusier 383 stroker engine. After a few hours of operation, I noticed a small amount of oil in the bilge. I had the boat pulled from the slip for some other work (water pump) and had them check the oil leak. They believe the oil is coming from the rear crank seal of the engine. The leak isn't too bad, down about 1/2 quart in 20 hrs of operation. The shop is working with mercruiser to confirm this falls under warrenty despite changing boat owners.
My question, as long as I monitor engine oil level, is there any harm continuing to use the boat while resolving the warranty issue? As long as I watch things closely I'm assuming I can put a few more hours on the engine. Thanks for your thoughts. Rich
