Hi,
this past weekend I expirienced my first engine problem which im guessing was related to an impeller issues. I was crusing at around 3800rpm when i felt the boat bog down as we were going over a large wake. I assumed it was the wake and few second later with the trottle still wide the boat dropped to 2200rpms and I smelled something hot. So i back her and down to 1000rpm where she cut out. I was running with a friend so i never tried to restart and he just towed me back to the dock. Several people told me that they think I have a cracked head. Could someone give some signs of stuff to look for that would indicate a cracked head. Also what other problems can develop as a result of overheating? I did get the boat restarted later that night and it was not running up to par but I could see no visual changes other than the block was shaking more than usual and running ruff.
I plan on having the boat towed to the ramp and pulled so that my mechanic can work on it. I plan on replacing the winch on the tailer because I will not have any kind of power to put the boat on the trailer and there are places in the steel braided wire that look questionable. Could anyone give me a good sugesstion for a heavy duty winch and cable that would pull a 1978 26' DA witout the boat being under power?
Thanks
Chris
