Refresh my memory - does this stuff have a double sided backing? Did they mention what happens when you remove it? Is the surface able to be cleaned up? I only ask because back when we used Hydroturf (EVA Foam) for jetskis and waverunners, it was always applied with contact cement. There was no way you could go back to a virgin hull surface after application. Once it was used, the surface was ruined.

You line up the seams so you will have a little wasted product....

So likely the deck is ruined now that the product is put down?

When I pulled up a mistake and the trim pieces the deck was not ruined, it was just a lot of work to unstick it...

If you look close the upper swimstep has had the outer edge trimmed out with black 4200...

I installed this on my swim platform this year and it provided great traction. The kids jump off the back of the boat for hours and it held up well.

Bill Collector, how did you apply the 4200? Before sticking it to the deck or after and was that a pain? Looks great!

Lots of blue painters tape.... The foam has great stick on the bottom, but I was worried about the outside edges with all of the water that goes over the swimstep while underway.

I used a tracer block or small jig to go around the edges.... That's how the edge line follows the edge of the swimstep so well. Then lots of blue painters tape and black 4200 to seal the edges.

We had SeaDek installed at the end of the season, and we LOVE it!! The difference between the old carpet and the new EVA foam is huge. So far, we have zero complaints. We chose to go with mocha over camel (brown over tan) because it doesn't generate as much heat in the sun and it matches our upholstery better. And we specifically chose a 4" wide plank over the traditional 2" because we think it looks less busy. If anyone is considering making this upgrade, I highly recommend it!!

Thanks Quint!! I spent almost a year hemming and hawing between working with you or working with SC Wake. In the end, we chose the SeaDek. But the guys who handled the templating and install are based on Brookville Lake, so I’m sure you’ve probably crossed paths at some point. GREAT guys to work with.

Did you use the tracer block just for making the template or were you able to rig something up that allowed you to cut the mat in place?

I just ordered enough for my swim platform and cockpit after an initial order of a single sheet to check the quality of the product. Probably not as nice as sea deck but their quote was $3,500 just for my cockpit so I figured it is worth a try even if it only lasts a couple years.

So the process was the center line of surface area, all seems are in black, pieces rough cut to approx. size(some pieces needed a paper pattern), everything dry fitted into place, start at center and work out in both directions, the tracer blocked was used with many sharp blades as I followed around the contour of the swim step itself. I will be down to the boat probably this week and will take a picture of it. I received the same bid price from the guy at the boat show, I have $240 invested in this (4 sheets).
