After removing and inspecting manifolds, I have read several posts which recommend assembling dry with the new Mercruiser gaskets. (I am talking about manifold to spacer to elbows here, as I realize manifold to head is dry).

The original Mercruiser manual states using perfect seal. Somewhere I read there was a tsb on putting them together dry. Since I am a little paranoid on this issue with water leaking on me a few years back, I was wondering if there is any negitive to using perfect seal with the new style gaskets?

Depends on what gasket. Def. no on the graphite ones.
Thanks scoflaw.
The Mercruiser gaskets are now the graphite ones. This is the reason for my post. I am trying to understand if the sealant can be used in combination and why or why not.
