We just bought a 2006 240 Sundancer and wonder if it is worth spending an additional $2,000 (including shipping from AZ to FL) on an extended swim platform that will bring us an extra 25" off the stern? What are others experience with this?

We are so excited to get boating on this new boat.

We spent the last year on a pontoon and before that it was all sail boats so we are relatively new to motor boating but love it so far and so do our kids!

Adding a swim platform on a boat is like adding an extra room to a house... definitely worth it! I put one on my 270... it was a great addition!

Best addition ever to the 290DA I had.....do it!

It is one of my best/favorite mods yet. The stock one is useless. I did this one custom. Swim platforms are good, but I wanted something alittle more custom.

Without a doubt, it was the best upgrade that I ever put on a boat. Follow this link http://1988sundancer.weebly.com/past-projects.html and look at pictures 4 though 6. Some where I have a picture from the satellites showing the boat in the slip with the new platform. I actually can sit on my platform with a folding chair and watch the sunset or sunrise with room to spare!

Welcome and congrats on the boat. As for your question, yes. I am hoping to add one this year also.

Hey, I put one on my 270 too.

It is a great addition and very valuable real estate on the water. Think of it as adding a patio on your condo.

I'm currently designing one for my vessel also. How big is too big and how heavy is too heavy? Mine is going on a 450DA. Any additional thoughts?

Who built this platform for you? Very nice design. I really like the grab rail. Nice job!

A friend and myself modified a platform that came off a Sea Ray 240 sd? (sundeck) to fit my boat, We made all the brackets to mount it also. I bent some aluminum tubing to the right shape, to form the hand rail, and my friend made the brackets to mount it. (I couldn't figure out how to make the brackets) Between the two of us we did a great job. Oh and I ordered a template kit from Sea Dek and made the templates for the non skid. It all turned out great. Thanks

we have no regrets and used swimplatforms.com. look at my photos....

Your boat might have been the inspiration for mine. I looked at swimplatforms.com closely. I like them, and your boat looks great with it installed. The 240sd platform came available to me, and I wanted a extra strong (I'm a big boy) platform, so it was a no brainer for me to just custom build one. I would suggest/recommed a swimplatforms.com to anyone that is on the fence for one, that doesn't have the tools, knowledge, or ability to do it yourself.

Yep...sold. The carver I was looking at sold the same day I made an offer, it's a long story. I am looking.

I just ordered mine from Swimplatforms.com and I hope to have it in about a month. I am going to make a full installation video and take lots of pictures.

If you have another set of hands, you can do it in a single day. If you are pulling an old one off, go get some wood shims that they use to shim a door in place. You will find once it is completely unbolted, that the caulk they use will hold the platform on. Take the wood shims an place it in the caulk between the stern and the old platform. Just tap them in slowly and it will split it from the stern with no damage. Also make sure to bring wooden dowels and epoxy to fill the original holes.

Use lots of 3m 5200 to make a real good seal around all the new bolt holes and make a good bead about 1/2 from the edges of the platform when you go and bolt it in.
