Face Shields..

They say it`s airborne so unless your wearing a WWII gas mask your mask does nothing .
Remember that "sheep" are used for food.

I watched the good doctor's video. When it was over, YouTube recommended this one, which goes into more detail and applies a bit more science. If you watch carefully you will see the likely reason Dr. Noel's experiment seemed to fail:

Proper masks properly fitted do protect the user and those nearby. However, nearly all the masks in use, including ones in medical settings, are just token masks. Worn to fulfill a requirement, not to effectively stop the spread of Covid-19.

It may be different for people in surgical wards or in Covid-19 wards, but the average hospital person I saw yesterday had on masks of a single layer, barely covering the nose, open at the top & sides. Ineffective, as shown in the videos above.

The mask mandate is a feel-good, let's do something, measure. Nearly all the masks in use in the states I've recently visited will not stop the spread either way. More magical thinking, magical actions. Following a myth.

So you would think that if masks really worked, and the best masks are the N95 masks, that there would be a push to get those into the hands of the population. Nope. We just put old underwear on our face and say "good to go."

Its been brought up before ....if masks work why hasn't the CDC set a standard for the type of mask

New patient came in today. Beautiful eyes. Like, wow. Then took her mask off and the meth history became very clear. Ugh.
If someone ends up marrying her and discovers something like that when she takes off her mask off on her wedding night, can she be sued for false advertising?

because the valve is one way....you blow out covid

Not all n-95 masks have valves, right? And, covid is only 'blown out' if one has covid. AND, if both parties near each other have effective masks, it doesn't matter if the covid-wearing one has a valve. Right?

Are you guys still debating this mask thing? I didn't open this thread for over a week and I peek back in and you still haven't come to agreement?

You're right not all N95's have valves.... but if your fancy and you went with options and didnt tap it and you have covid..... you are a virus sprinkler with a mask on

True, but it doesn't matter if I spread covid through my valved mask, IF you have an effective mask on. You're protected.

If a person chooses to wear an ineffective mask, my valve is not the issue. It is the ineffective mask worn by someone else. Again, personal responsibility is the key issue. Protect yourself. Don't expect me to do that. I have enough to do to protect myself.

Maybe but still sets a bad example.
Virus not defeated yet.

Words have meaning, no virus has ever been defeated. Those are the type of words that have the public believing they can hide and someone out there will “defeat“ the virus for them.

Yes, talk of defeating Covid-19 at this point is more harmful magical thinking. Perpetuating a myth. Deluding the populace. Short of an effective vaccine that is disseminated worldwide, we're all gonna get it. Man up.

Potential good news about HCQ. Large study out of Belgium. Not a randomized trial but still compelling results from a very large sample. Big difference with other studies that failed appears to be that they used the same, lower dose typical for other HCQ applications. ~30% reduction in mortality, so not a cure-all but potentially a useful therapy.

Low-dose Hydroxychloroquine Therapy and Mortality in Hospitalized Patients with COVID-19: A Nationwide Observational Study of 8075 Participants
Highlights
• Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) 2400 mg during 5 days was used in Belgium for COVID-19
• Impact of HCQ on mortality among 8075 patients with COVID-19 was assessed
• Lower mortality in HCQ-treated patients as compared to supportive care
• Lower mortality is irrespective of symptoms duration

No, no no. Can't be. Orange man bad.

I will refer you back to yesterday’s chart.

Nice chart, but regrettably, fake news. First, the chart depicts data from Switzerland, so the FDA had nothing to do with it. Second, during the period depicted, Switzerland was experiencing 7-average deaths hovering between 0-3 per day, so very small numbers. The spikes have been attributed to data clean-up of the cases resolved numbers.

The Johns Hopkins data in the chart above was from Switzerland? I didn't see that in the caption. Second, "data clean-up" can cover a multitude of sins, and is always a suspect excuse, IMO.

The screenshot below is with USA Covid-19 data showing similar findings to the "Switzerland" findings. Perhaps more data clean-up is needed.

Here's the tweeter walking back the story behind the data portrayed in the chart:
