My fenders have been rubbing the graphic decals off the side of my 185 sport....
I have very basic (not very large) pair of fenders which came with the boat from marinemax.

A friend recommended that I upgrade to larger fenders with fabric covers....

I launch at public docks that often have more current or wake than I would prefer....

Any recommendations something cushy on a 185 sport ?

Thanks !

You have got your advice right there..... I have fabric covers on all of my fenders...

Fender covers will probably help and I'm sure you can buy some to fit your existing fenders. The problem with cloth covers is that they can collect dust and dirt which acts like micro-grit sandpaper and over time will wear on the hull too -- but still better than nothing if you're uncovered fenders are causing problems.

Google "fender covers" and you will probably find something that will work.

The flat fenders look great... but in some chop at a public dock, my instinct is that thicker is better (keep more distance from dock).. but then flat probably distributes the pressure more evenly (and therefore less damage to decals)..

Does anyone else use the flat fenders?

I thought that the flat fenders were more for rafting up with other boats. I have used them for that purpose b/c they dont tend to get knocked upwards when one boat is higher than the other.
Anyway, I would be hesitant to use them on a dock where there is any decent amount of wake.
I havent seen or looked for fender covers but I have seen some people use the legs of elastic bottom sweat pants to go over the inflatable fenders. Just take them off and wash them when needed so the dirt doesnt scratch the gel.
