One down one to go...I hope to to be back in the water for July at this point.

awesome.

makes me wish i had me some 454s ;)

Looks nice. Same type of engines I have.
Why did you have to replace them?
How many hours on the original motors?
Did you rebuild the transmissions?
How were your prop drive shafts?

Sandy (hurricane) forced water in the motors through the exhaust while stored on the hard.
1000 hrs without a problem.
Trans. Are fine.
Props redone.
Shafts were fine.

Getting ready for new engines.
Took four hours to pull both old engines.
Sorry, no good pics of me pulling them out...I was too busy to stop and take any.

There something wrong with me!
I'm looking forward to changing all of my head hoses and duck bills tomorrow.
Guess now is the time while the engines are out and access is easy.
They should find a cure for us boaters.

Twins, so close to ready :)
Waiting for new German made Centa dampers (Crusader parts) and oil drain kits to arrive.
Then, the new trans and engines go together....

Progress makes me happy.

These Centa (made in Germany) dampers are soo cool, the sheet metal and rivets standard set up isn't nearly as good!

Highly recommend any DIY boater go to ebay and get some clamp-aids.
There the little rubber hose clamp covers (blue on mine) that protect you from the sharp edge of the hose clamp tail.
I've had my share of razor like cuts from those darn things and seems, I'm always in the bilge

Nope,
Away for work again..
Engines will go in later in the week and I've got some other improvement / repairs to finish up.
I will see you on the water before long.
:)

Curious where you found the blocks. I was told they stopped making the 454 and that they could be hard to get unless you went re-man.

Both installed tested and timed.
Almost ready for the water.....
Hope summer runs long this year!

Nope,
Brand new long blocks are available from several places.
Mine were cast this year.
Look at Marine Engines.
