I have the itch to do some fishing mostly for entertainment, not having a "fishing boat" intrigued if anyone fishing from their SD?

-not planning on changing my SD though

I've fished from dancers plenty of times. The only real difference is keeping the boat clean is much harder. I would keep all the fish on the swim platform and have a cooler out there to throw them in. Take up your cockpit carpet and don't go below unless your feet are clean. You can also buy some inexpensive floor covering plastic rolls at home depot to further protect the carpet below deck

The prior owner of my boat did a lot of fishing from it. So much so that he removed the cockpit carpet and replaced all the snaps with button head screws since he never planned to replace the carpet. The boat was/is quite clean but I assume he was hosing the cockpit down every time he used it.

You may have a hard time mounting the trolling motor to the swim platform, however. :)

Absolutely. Did it all the time from my DA (FYI, "DA" = Sundancer, "SD" = Sundeck). You can throw a rod off any boat - some are just more "convenient" to do it from. The platform is a good place. So is that convertible aft sunpad/bench seat.

+1

And clamp-on rod holders are the preference for folks in our crew who aren't ready to drill fiberglass to install permanent ones. When you're not fishing, you can remove and stow them so they're out of the way of socializing, etc.

I fish about half the time the boat gets used.

I just bought some Taco clamp on rod holders to use off the tower of my 270 SunDeck that I want to try out this weekend.

Thanks for all the input, I am excited to give it a try on my DA! (Thank you Lazy Daze for the correction)

Probably go to Bass Pro Shop this evening.

I fish all the time with my 330da. Downriggers with rod holder mounts. Back carpet removed.

I have a 2000 DA. Inserted 2 rod holders in gunnels, plus a removable one on bow rail. We fish all the time. Perfect fish/pleasure cruiser. Best of both

And...you could use the rod holder for a Magma Grill. Cook up all those fish you'll catch.
