In my SD 290 and perhaps other models my 2 steps into the cabin are unequal - the top step is an 11" drop while the lower step is a 14" drop, making entering and leaving the cabin somewhat challenging. It has caused me to take one step at a time.
I have attached pictures of the (3) levels of wood that comprise the 3" difference and this change makes all the difference in the world!
The wood was purchased at Home Deport and they did the cutting (free) except for the angled top plate which I did with a skill saw.
The 3 pics attached have all the measurements.
We have yet to decide on the finish covering but it will most likely be a waterproof linoleum type product that can be shaped with a bull nose.
This project took me about 2 hours to install and now we are able to "walk normally" into/out of our beloved 290!

It's funny, I don't think I've ever noticed that they were of unequal heights. Whether it was my own, or the hundred other DA's I've been in. But, that's why it's YOUR boat and you can do what works best for YOU.

Thank you for your helpful reply. I don't know what a DA is but mine is a SunDancer

Coron, you don't need to be snippy. I was only pointing out that the great thing about being a boat owner, regardless if others feel the same way or not, is that you can do whatever you want and it doesn't matter what others think. While not "all" Sea Ray owners hate those steps - it doesn't matter. It only matters what's important to you.

DA stands for Sundancer. In the tech articles forum, there's a thread on abbreviations - it's a good read.
