My windlass fouled up the night of the 4th. Picture follows. Other than a sharp knife, any ideas on how to fix? Windlass will not operate from either the helm or the foot pedals.

Hopefully your answer is in your anchor locker where it belongs. A crank handle should be clipped into holders that you can use to release the tension on the capstan.
I'm trying that now with no success.

Is it completely jammed/locked up both forward and reverse or no power?

Edit...no fuses in the anchor locker on this model. See schematic below

There is a fuse on the control side, down in the anchor locker, and the main power has a breaker that is on the main distribution panel in the engine room.
Yep. No power. I fixing to wedge myself in the engine compartment to check the main distribution panel.

Power at dash (light comes on). When I press up or down, I hear a click.

Looking in the anchor locker and don't seea fuse block or a breaker.

Can you take the hawspipe off - looks like 3 allen type screws holding it on. Or, you should be able to use that tool and loosen the clutch completely and remove the capstan.
Rope/chain rodes are just a PIA. My Cobalt came with all chain, it's a dream compared to my rope/change setup.

If mechanical, 3 screws as mentioned above...

If electrical...Schematic for 06 340

Looks like no fuse in the anchor locker (change from earlier models).

There is a 100A main power breaker, but I cant see/find where its installed. But its got to be near the main DC distribution panel.

There is a 5A fuse on the windlass solenoid which should also be in/near the Main DC panel

The control power comes through the FWD EIM, there are some windlass control breakers under the helm.

If you hear clicking it's not the breaker, you have power.

Listen to scoflaw. If you hear clicking you have power but the mechanism is jammed by a running hockle. If you keep clicking the actuator you will eventually burn the fuse or trip the breaker so, stop doing that.

techmitch gave you the answer in post #2. Use the Lewmar wrench to completely unscrew the adjustment bolt. It will let you remove the clutch drum and get to the jamb. You may have to use some sort of pry bar to lift the drum, depending on the jamb. Good luck

1. removed the 3 screws and was able to "hand feed' the chain back into the anchor locker.
2. agree there is no fuse or breaker in the anchor locker (also had a dockmate check as he is more "flexible" than I am).
3. checked breakers in both engine room and under the helm - looked ok.
4. Will get back in the enginroom and have another look-see maybe later on this week.

Thanks for everyones' assistance!
