We keep our 2002 240DA in drydock at the lake. From time to time.....I bring water containers and add water to the fresh water inlet so I can use the transom hose bib for cleaning of the boat and getting dust off. Unfortunately there is no water in the dry dock area.
Today....added water.....turned on the water pump at the dash and pulled out the hose from the transom water faucet. The water I added to the fresh water tank was pouring out the bilge drain hole (keep drain plug out) as well as the side bilge drain pump drain. Of course I eventually ran out of water and unable to washdown boat. Never had this happen. We did have a new automatic bilge pump put in the last 60 days.

Any ideas why the water leaked out of the water tank so quickly?

Probably have a disconnect waterline somewhere, water was pumped into the bilge. I had a similar boat. Water tank was up front, along with the pump. Most of these boats have a bilge that runs the length of the boat, and the water lines are in there too. Could be a leak anywhere inbetween.

Go find the water pump and trace you waterlines all the way to the transom.

The newer 240 DA's did have the tank under the v-berth, however this model year has it in the bilge. But, do as David said and just put some more water in the tank and look. That bilge is pretty easy to work in/around - it should be easy to figure out. There's a number of things that could have happened - but we'd just be guessing. Take a looksie.

For future reference, the cabin bilge is walled off from the engine bilge.
