So happy with this boat.
Engines
Twin 5.0
Last week it worked fine as always and this week nothing.

Boat: 2005 300 Sundancer

I have looked at:

1. made sure the tank is full
2. Checked fuses and breakers
3. Checked filter
4. the boat seems to have power
5. Checked all sinks and toilet. (Toilet will flush not fill)

Any help, thank you.

Is the pump running when you turn on the faucet?
Did the system run out of water at some point recently? If so I would try venting the lines by opening one of the manifold lines to a bucket.
Another thing to try is to use the dock water connection to prime all of the system, including the shower head if you have one. This way you will know there are no air locks anywhere.

The pump doesnt run when any of the water is on. I will try the hose prime thing now. Thanks stand by

Ok so the vent is working but still no presure. Wierd but still nothing.

The water seems to connect to a pump however when i suck water through i hear i pump niose some place else.

So you connected the dock water to the dock water supply fitting and turned on all of the outlets until you had good water pressure at the faucet then closed the faucets - and you did that for every faucet, shower, transom shower if you have one - correct?

What do you mean "when I suck water through", suck from where and with what? Are you certain that yo know where the pot water pump is and you have been looking at the correct one? (Not an AC pump or something else).

Is there a leak in your system?
If not:
Do you have power to the pump?
Check it with a 12 volt test light. Leave a faucet open long enough that it should demand water. If there is power, and it doesn't come on, then it's the pump.
If no, then check the breaker. With it in the on position you should have power on both sides.
If no power on one side with breaker turned on, then that's where the problem is. Make sure connection is clean.
If it's clean and it still doesn't have power with the breaker on, then the breaker is bad.
It's a pretty simple system. Pumps do lock up and go bad, connections always get cruddy on boats, and breakers go bad too.

Given my limited knowledge about this system is this all correct?

I have one motor for the toilet intake pressure.

I have another motor for fresh water pressure which fills the toilet, supplies water to all sinks and hot water heater.

Both motors use a/c and d/c given demand.

Also to address the "suck water" question, i used a 12V pump for winterizing the water system. Connects to one of the boat batteries and has a light switch attached. This pump wasnt the noise i heard.

The confusing part is when the pump sitting above and attached to the water distribution system doesn't making any noise when water is called. This pump has two hoses connected. One is steel braided line on top and the other is filter going into heavy plastic line simular to the rest of the line throughout the boat.

Here is some clarification:

The fresh water pump is 12V only and is located in the port side of the engine room near the water manifold (the long skinny thing with hoses coming out of it). It has a filter on one end and that end sucks the water out of the water tank, which is located under the seating in the mid-berth. The other line coming out of the pump goes to the water manifold and feeds the fresh water (that it sucks out of the water tank) to the boat by way of the manifold. There is a second line on the manifold right next to the line coming from the pump. That line comes from the shore connection in the trunk on the back of the boat. So, you have two inputs into the water manifold. One from the pump and one from the shore connection. All the other lines on the manifold are point to point lines to all the fresh water items on the boat (faucets, toilet, hot water heater, etc). You also have a switch on the 12V breaker panel in the cabin to power the water pump. Make sure that switch is turned on. If it is, when you turn on a faucet, the pump should start pumping water out. If it doesn't, then you most likely have a failed pump or a wiring problem getting the 12V to the pump.

Another test you can run is to connect a dock hose to the shore water inlet, turn off the 12V water pump breaker (don't run dock water with power to the 12V pump), then turn on the dock water to feed water to the water manifold. The water system is now pressurized from the dock water inlet. Your faucets should work.

The vacuum-flush toilet system is a entirely separate system and has nothing to do with the fresh water faucet system. This system sucks the water and crap out of the toilet and deposits it into the holding tank. It also is only a 12V system. If I remember correctly from my 300DA, both the vacu-flush pump system and the holding tank are in the aft port corner of the boat.

Hope this helps.

Very good explanation of how the water system works, however the vaccuflush does have a fresh water supply from the water system.

Thank you all,

I will work through this and get back. One question, i can fill the fresh tank from the trunk where the shore power connects?

The fresh water tank has a deck fill. Remove the cap, and fill with a garden hose.

I forgot about that simple item. He may have just pumped all the water out of the tank and he just needs to refill.

Beerlust, on the 300DA the deck fill is on the port "sidewalk" about 1/4 of the way forward from the rear. The stainless steel cap has "water" written on it.

His first post said on point 1) - Made sure the tank is full. No harm in double checking I guess.

Thank you all for your input.

The problem was a failed surefro water pump costing $140. Uninstalling the old pump and installing the new pump took only fifteen minutes.

My marine tetsed the old pump and informed me to switch off the fresh water pump and toilet pump when not using the boat which i have never done.

Switching off the pumps will be standard for me now.

thank you all again!

On the topic of fresh water systems and pumps. Once the water system is turned on - Is the Pump supposed to run constantly or is it a "on-demand' type of system? I had installed a new Shur -flo pump in my boat last season - I have just recently noticed that it really never turns off until the power is turned off. Is this normal?.

No this is not normal. Pump builds pressure in the system and then shuts off. Sound like your system is leaking.

I think most just shut off the DC mains when they leave the boat.
