I took a few pics yesterday of the Barnegat Bay frozen over...

This is a pic of the two day sticks leading to the entry of our development. That's Island Beach State park accross the bay...the "secret spot" is not accessible...

This is a pic looking south east from the shores of my development. Towards the Barnegat Lighthouse.

The iceboaters will probably be out this afternoon on the Cedar Creek and Toms River...

Those photos are obviously fakes! I have it one very good authority that it doesn't get cold enough here to freeze the bay.

Didn't one of your local (Barnegat Bay) guys say that the bay and its rivers never freeze. If that picture isn't ice than it is some very hard water.

These Swan were looking for a little 'softer' water...

Any idea how thick the ice is?

It's hard to tell. Some places I'm sure you can stand on it, but it really hasn't been solid too long. I'd give it a few more days below 32F before I'd venture out.

I'll be down by the creek later this afternoon. That's usually the first place the iceboaters but in....or I guess I should say put on.

It's warming up today, mid 30's, but then it's supposed to get back down below freezing for the remainder of the week.

If intoxicated boaters don't get the dopey sticks, the ice will! The bay certainly is capable of freezing. It's only 6 or 7 feet deep in ICW and 1-3 feet everywhere else!
