President Trump isn't even out of office yet and fuel has gone up $.30-$.40 around me. I can't wait to see the fuel dock prices this summer...

If it goes up this summer I'd assume it has more to do with increasing demand than who's in office. But I'm certainly not an expert on global economies and oil markets...

..just a mention of stopping fracking or not staying energy independent and the prices will go thru the roof.
Reminds me of an argument with my next door neighbor...they both were all for raising our local school taxes during the last recession....its for the kids they would say...it passed and they were so happy...the only thing that changed was the High school football team got 4 new golf carts to go from the equipment room to the field...a total of 25 yards. Careful what you vote for

I've been talking to many in the oil and gas industry. It's no secret the incoming administration is against fossil fuels, and have made statements to such. Fracking is going to get heavily regulated to a point it won't be cost feasible, and they will stop. Same with leases and production.

Plans are already underway to begin offshoring our energy once again, which in return means higher fuel prices. I hope everyone enjoyed the past 4 years of being energy independent which resulted in low fuel prices, that is going away.

Not only do higher fuel prices affect boating, but every aspect of our lives. Transportation becomes more expensive and effects food prices and production, as well as manufactured goods.

The other downside coming is boat sales. Once the fuel rises the demand for recreational boating will decrease. What we saw last year with record sales is not going to happen this year, in fact you will start seeing a lot of fire sales coming up on people who bought boats, especially last year. The allure and fun will quickly vanish when they figure out what it is going to cost to run these. Of course, the same will be true across many hobbies that are based on fossil fuel.

    Pandora's Box has been opened.

Be very wary when your new government starts talking about rejoining the Paris Climate Accord and meeting GHG targets/price on carbon....read taxes. Remember, we are metric in Canada 1 US gal= 3.78 litres.

“The current price on carbon translates to Canadians paying roughly an extra 2.3 cents per litre of gasoline, which is set to rise to an extra 12 cents per litre under the $50 per tonne pricing in 2022.

Government officials speaking on background on Friday said the increase in the carbon tax after 2022 would translate to an increase of roughly 27.6 cents per litre from 2022 costs.

That means Canadians can expect to pay roughly an extra 39.6 cents per litre of gasoline by 2030.

Officials would not provide an estimate on the effect the increase would have on home heating costs across the country, noting that will change depending on the energy source and how Canadians use the retrofit incentives being rolled out through the plan.”

And these taxes are on top of taxes which account for roughly 30% of pump price.

Yup this is no secret saw this coming, the signals were everywhere besides the bold commentary from the incoming administration we are no longer leaders in Influence on renewable energy ,Trumps energy independence plan was to, well just that make us independent and put the money back in our pockets there’s no point in pursuing renewable energy if nations with four times our population Are not even going to attempt that. We as people are not ready to go green sorry. Expect 350 a gallon by the summer wide spread across our nation here comes 2012 2013 all over again. Oil is the most exploited manipulative commodity in existence . The incoming party and administration know this they like having international friends hint hint. Follow the bouncing ball

Where I lived in Mass until a few years ago it was the same thing. My town was basically the hub of lib ideals. Your argument wasn't an argument. It was a way of life for them. Proposition 2 1/2 overrides always passed.
It was fun being the Scoutmaster there. They just couldn't understand why I resigned when the national leadership decided to go PC over the boys safety. Principles aren't always comfortable or convenient...

My cousin works at a large refinery in the New Orleans area. They just started back up after shutting down sometime last summer. Didn't process a drop of crude oil for almost 6 months. This was primarily due to lack of demand because of Covid. He said that some refineries will not come back from this. The result is reduced refining capacity which leads to reduced fuel supplies. Supply goes down/price goes up.

As prices go up, one would assume those mothballed refineries would come back online. Balancing the supply/demand equation with some amount of lag.

I'm guessing we see $5/gallon by summer and probably over $8/gallon by next year. My son will likely lose his job. He is a safety manager for a major construction company. He is on the pipeline division. My oldest step-son is a Cpl detective and is trying to get out. He knows law enforcement is going to have a very rough time the next 4 years and figures his chances of getting hurt or worse on the job will go up exponentially since their hands are getting tied tighter and tighter.

We are still seeing about $5 total to fill up our Tesla at the supercharger pump. At home, the sun fills it up for us.

The way they shut down the coal industry was by enforcement of new consumer regs (Utility's). Gas will take the hit by production methods and lease's on Federal land.
Hu, won't be long before the whole country see's what California has already experienced. No Power.
I truly hope it dosen't happen.

They decimated an all ready struggling region. The rules and regulations are untenable for all most all the companies now. The societal changes in the region are heart breaking. I fear massive changes are in the air.

At this point US is exporter of crude and refined product. If fracking is legislated out US will be an importer. If you do not like that write your senator and your new president.
