Fuel tank issue?

OK, try this one... 3116 CATs on '97 400 DA. Motor and gennie won't stay started. Both running off same fuel tank. Switch engine to other tank, and runs great, so our only common denominator is the fuel tank.

Thoughts?

Broken/clogged pickup tube, clogged vent, clogged vent hose, clogged/failing fuel hose, filters (although unlikely both would be bad). And... the 'ol standby: no fuel in tank?

Thanks for the suggestions! And yes, per the wife, I tried fuel in the tank, not the issue.
Taking a look at it tonight. Thinking it's the pickup tube, although it doesn't look easily accessible.
