Fusion Audio, Garmin, Sirius XM, and NMEA 2000

There was no "Garmin Marine Network" only "Advanced" then the IP settings.
Regardless, it shows up on the Garmin Marine Network list on the MFD's. And, if the system assigns an IP address it is definitely talking to the network. BTW IP 172 is Garmin...
My default was WI-FI OFF so I could try to cycle that on then back off and see if Garmin Marine Network appears....

I have the GXM-53 so have full control of SirusXM on my MFD's but not from the Fusion Apollo. I am thinking of installing a Sirius receiver to connect to the Fusion. In doing some research, I came across the following from the Apollo Operator Manual:

"Configuring the Stereo for use with a Garmin Marine Network
You can connect this stereo to a Garmin Marine Network in order to view and control the stereo using a compatible Garmin chartplotter.
NOTE: When you configure the stereo for use with a Garmin Marine Network, you are limited to using only Garmin and Fusion devices. You cannot use third-party routers, phones, storage devices, or other network products with this stereo.
You cannot use Wi‐Fi networking on a stereo configured for use with a Garmin Marine Network. This functionality is compatible with wired network connections only.
Select > > NETWORK > WI-FI OFF > GARMIN MARINE NETWORK."

No mention of it in the Installation Manual. Looks like the above requires a Garmin Network (ethernet) connection; right now I connect to my onboard router. I wonder if this would correct the MFD Sirius control issues albeit at the cost of the loss of other capabilities like wi-fi connection to the Fusion app but I guess Bluetooth would still work. Has anyone made this connection?
Al - I can't find this in any manual for the RA770 can you get a link to it?

I was getting excited when I first saw this post. But, it looks like you guys are all using Garmin MFD's. I finally got my system all installed last week. I was hoping for full control of the Fusion from my Axiom-9. But, I only have control of the Sirius receiver and can control output level of the receiver to the Fusion. But, not overall volume of the Fusion. Scared a turd out of my grandbaby when I switched from Sirius to Bluetooth on the Fusion phone app and it went full volume. I cannot switch inputs of fusion from the MFD. I can only switch on the Fusion or in Fusion phone app. I did find if I hit the mute button on the MFD it will kill all volume regardless of input. I don't want to hook up the sirius receiver directly to the Fusion because we use it for Sirius weather and would lose radar on the MFD. That was the original reason for buying the MFD since we often don't have cell signal to get storm alerts. Overall, I am not pleased. It is not at all what I expected. I'm not sure if I have a valid argument to Raymarine, Sirius or Garmin. I'm not even sure which I would contact to get more support. Who would be responsible for the integration failure? Or am I just asking for too much?

Thanks! This manual is different from the one that came with my RA770..... I'm going to look into the configuration a bit more in a couple of days. And, see if there are any S/W updates.
Looks like 4.20 is the latest version.
I saw this on the Fusion site along with the manuals:

Looks like version 4+ is a major change, mostly around "Grouping" which seems to be the new description of PartyBus. I don't use it but remember complaints, I would assume this is an effort to fix it. There are also a couple of other features that look like they are not just PartyBus related.

Fusion was a start-up about two decade or so ago, and was pretty innovative in marine stereos. I think they invented and promoted Fusion-Link and got it to be the de facto standard for stereo integration with MFDs across manufacturers. Then Garmin bought them and as usual, slowed things down and likely messed some things up. I think the core of what was Fusion still exists in New Zealand. Those are the guys I would try to connect with if it's possible.

The Fusion tech support really seemed to be pretty good. I filled out their questionnaire and submitted and within an hour they called me on the phone. From a technical aspect they seemed to be on top of it. They told me exactly what I didn't want to hear; consequently, this thread....

Tom, do you know which SiriusXM tuner you have? I just got an SXV300, which I think is the latest and hope to install it tomorrow. I have seen hints in some of the documentation and internet posts that there are differences in what capabilities are available based on the tuner. I've also read about problems with the tuner's connector pins not making contact. Not sure how that might impact the problems we're discussing but probably worth a look.

Yes, SXV300. I had it on my last boat and now on this one; so it's gotta be 6 or 7 years old now. And using the existing antennas on the boat; they plugged directly into the SXV300. I believe I had a Shakespeare Galaxy Sirius XM antenna on the old boat.
As an Edit - I believe it should be SXV300V1

I have a Raymarine 12" Axiom that I just upgraded the firmware to 3.12. This added the Audio side bar and a number of Fusion centric enhancements, including the ability to change the source from the MFD. I can confirm it works. I am running a MS-AV755 over N2K. I'm looking to move to the Apollo series this winter, as I think it offers some benefits...I'll watch this thread and see what happens.

Let me make sure I have the latest firmware update. You do have one more window in the control window that I don't have. Are you able to change the overall volume of the head unit or just the input from the sirius to the head unit? Sorry, not on the boat or I would try this right now.

I do not have Sirius on the boat at this time. I do have complete control of the volume from Axiom --> N2K --> MS-AV755 for all connected sources (FM, AM, BT). I use Spotify on an old cell phone as my normal audio source connected via Bluetooth. On the cell phone, I need the Bluetooth volume set all the way up for it to work well.

So, I just installed the SiriusXM SXV300 tuner to my Apollo MS-RA770, about a 5 minute drill although I will need to place the antenna permanently. Lit off the Apollo, registered the radio ID and everything on the Fusion seems to be working including the app.
Fired up the nav system and the Garmins had reconfigured themselves for SiriusXM with channel selection and configuration options.
So, Fusion SiriusXM will work with the latest Garmin MFDs. I was actually hoping it wouldn't work and I would discover some configuration change that would bring it up, but everything was seamlessly handled by the hardware/software. I'd be glad to try some changes that might be helpful if anybody wants to make a suggestion. If I had the problem I think I would disconnect the Fusion and let the Garmins deal with that change, then reinstall to see if that brought up the right interfaces.

Congrats. I think we were typing at the same time. I notice the album art as well, that must be a result of connecting with ethernet vice NMEA 2000, I wonder if it provides any other capabilities.
Don't go buy one of those expensive network cables; I have several new that I never used.

Glad you got this Tom, I guess I should check my software version I have zero art work on my Furuno’s and AXIOM. I’m connected via nmea 2K would Ethernet give me the artwork?

Has anyone considered or integrated a GXM 53/54 directly to the MFD? Adds the weather data, but wondering what data/artwork/channel data is passed with this configuration.
