have the 7608xsv and want to install a transducer. boat is in the water and not coming out anytime soon so a in hull surface mount is the key. Looks like there is a couple units available with a pot that seals to the hull surface and fills with liquid. Lake boat.

Recommendations? Install issues? performance?

GT15M-IH and
Garmin P79 600W In-Hull Transducer 50-200kHz - 8 Pin - P79-8G

Thanks

I tried this route for a while, but it would lose bottom when moving, and forget seeing smaller fish. The Sea Ray hulls are thick. I suppose had I played around with it more, I might have found a spot where it would work better.

One thing to consider. Use plumbers putty to adhere the cage to your hull, rather than epoxy. You'll want the ability to remove it once you come to your senses.

Thanks Bob. I think I will play with it...not much money for the transponder and I do my own work......boat comes out of the water for bottom paint in 2 years....will mount a better transponder at that time.....get some chirp value from the Garmin GPS.

Thanks again for your observations!
