Hello, this boat is new to me, so I have been noticing that when I take off the gas cap there is a lot of pressure (vacuum), So I have been checking the gas tank and have been noticing that it is collapsing. So my thought would be to get a vented gas cap. But when I got the vented gas cap it says " Do not use on EPA complaint Fuel system" Looks like in the manual I found online it, looks like a vented fuel cap. On the side of the boat it does say " Super, Ultra, Low Emissions" (California mission standards).

So the question for everyone, Does it need a vented cap? non vented gas cap? Is there something wrong with the emissions system?

Should be vented fine , could be plugged up with debris

Unless someone has changed something, you should have a vented cap on there -- probably a "knurled" edge, right?

Check the vent under the cap... check the vent line for clog or a low spot where fuel would collect.

Yeah, need to check your vent for cobwebs and such.
One thing I forgot to mention, was the previous owner had a NON Vented (solid) gas cap. Well it wasn't even a gas cap, it was just a plug thing in the gas hole thing.

There should be 2 hoses going to and from your tank.

The big one is the fill...where fuel goes in and the smaller one is vented, often out the transom above the water line. If you can, remove the smaller one from the tank and blow out through it. If it's clogged that's your problem and you can blow it out with compressed air.

Mud wasps love those vents.

Search the form there's another write-up recently on this same issue

Yup, someone changed things. And they must have changed the fitting on the boat, as well, since that cap wouldn't fit the OEM fitting.

It begs the question... what did they do with the vent fitting that's on the tank? Find it.

Did they change the entire tank? Your tank (OEM) is L-shaped to fit under the port-side jump seat. Is that what you have?

Welcome to CSR Alvin.
Hey guy's I know the OP says it's a 2011 but does/did a CA emissions boat have an EVAP system of sorts or maybe the OP has a 2021? Just spitballin as they say.

Yes, looks like an L shaped tank. I have looked over the tank, and I don't see anything plugged off. Not sure What is going on.

Thanks. After looking at the filler, I noticed a part number, 99201. looked it up and found what I think might be the proper gas cap. ( Attwood Plastic Deck Fill with Vent Gas #99201GS1). I ordered it and we will see if it fits. It also says that it is vented.

That emission sticker is actually about the gelcoat/fiberglass build process. Nothing to do with the fuel system.

Your picture of the gas tank looks to be OEM.

Your picture of the deck fill is the OEM fill. The cap you want is a vented cap and will have a knurled edge (as noted above)

Follow the vent line - but it likely still goes to the deck fill - so all you should have to do is put the correct cap back on there and go boating.

Great Thanks everyone for your help. It was very hard to find the correct sized fuel cap, but I think I found it on eBay and it's ordered.
