I just boarded my 330DA today and found my SA-1 vapor detector screaming away and both the "on/green" and "warning/red" lights lit on the controller.
No fumes from a sniff test. I've concluded that cleaning the bilge yesterday must have let water in somewhere and shorted the system.
Anyways my vapor detector is at least 7 years old and time to replace. For some reason this forum has little info posted in regards to vapor detectors.
I called the manufacturer of my unit (MTI industries) and they said todays warning is the units way of saying there is a fault and it needs a full replacement (not just a sensor).
The complete kit is only $130 directly from their website. They also told me the complete unit must be changed every 5 years.
Anyways I would like to know if there is a better system to buy and better yet is there a system that I can put on my Nmea2000 network so I can have on screen alerts on my chartplotter.
Now that I have heard that siren going off I honestly dont think it would be audible at 30 knots with wind whistling in my ears. I would like to see levels on a monitor that is right in front of my face as a back up plan.
