I could have done this a lot better…. I wanted to completely drain and clean out the gear lube monitor on my 2004 260 Sundancer. Unfortunately I was rushing and loosened the bottom nut thinking that I could pull the internal assembly and empty the monitor. Now I realize my mistake and can’t figure out how I can hold the inside nut under the float so that the bottom external nut can be tightened. The assembly is disconnected with wires unplugged. Thanks!

Well, I was able to fix this. Used a flat head screw driver to hold the interior nut in place and luckily was able to tighten the external nut. I would delete the post but not sure how.

No need to delete the post, this still may be helpful to someone.

As for me, I just bought a new gear lube reservoir when it started leaking at the sensor.

To clean the bottle - just take it off and put some brake cleaner or thinner in it, put cap on and shake well. Dump, repeat and rinse with water. Invert with top off and let dry. When in a hurry, I have stuffed a paper towel in it to absorb the leftover moisture. I clean mine about every 3 fluid changes.
