Hello, I have the ONAN H040684075 generator that always ran great. For some unknown reason it now shuts down. Starts great, sounds good but shuts down after about 5 to 7 minutes of run time. Pumps plenty of water so impeller not the issue. The fuel and fuel filter looks clean, plenty of oil. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you

No blink codes on the start switch?

I had a similar problem on mine. Turned out to be the fuel tank selector valve. It would not do it when to starboard, but when it pulled from the port tank, it would shut off after a few minutes.

No blink codes noticed. I thought the same thing about the fuel valves. I will switch them and see what happens. Thank you

Unfortunately a simple switch of the fuel valve did not work. The code I am getting is 23, which implies it is the oil sender. A relativity easy fix. However, the parts book reads there is two options. One is a Negative ground with gauges and the other is a ISO ground with gauges. From what I am reading I do not see why it would be a ISO ground. Any input would be appreciated on which ground it would be. I am leaning towards the negative ground. Thank you

Look at the switch. If it has one wire to it then it is the simple switch to ground. Two wires then typically part of a daisy chain to other safety switches and isolated from ground (AKA Westerbeke). If there are a multitude of wires then a more complex multi-purpose device.

Great, thank you for confirming it for me.

Just to close out the conversation. The code 23 indicates the oil sending unit. I switched out the sender and still no luck. I took a closer look at the gauges and found two wires that got bridle and lost connection. Problem solved.
