Greetings all and thank you for countless bits of information on my new boat I purchased last week.
The information on this board has been extremely valuable.

I find myself lost and I hope someone may be able to show me the light.

Of course my surveyor decided to overlook that the outlets were 'non-funtional'. :smt013

So I have been trying to determine what would cause this? The outlets switch is good as the flouresnt lights powere by this swith do come on. However the outlets are dead. I did replace the GFI that was fried in the head.

I cannot find a second one or another fuse or trip I can reset. I did replace the fuse in a box under the 'couch' in the cabin. Any ideas on the location of another GFI or maybe another culprit?

Areas I have looked:
Kitchen AND behind the coffee maker
Aft Cabin
Helm
Behind TV
Cockpit
Engine Compartment (although I did not open a four place junction box that was sealed tight with silicone...doubting it was in there) Any ideas?

Thanks for reading and you input.

Happy boating

And the search continues....I found mine located under the kitchen sink and it trips every so often.
Good Luck in finding yours.
Ed

Congrats on the new boat!! This was also one of my first missions as the outlets did work during the survey but not when I took possession. Anyway, in the hidden electrical breaker dept, I also found breakers behind the 12v main power panel (the one with the main switches) and this tripped off on me once....took me a few hours to find them.

You might want to add your boat and engines in the signature line (under user CP).

BTW....this will be my second season on my new boat and still get nervous in docking. Much easier to dock than my OD boats, but much more at risk if you hit somethink.

Good Luck with the new boat....Ed

Are you sure the GFCI you replaced in the head was installed correctly and working? I had the same issue and I am pretty sure that this is the only GFCI outlet aboard. I can tell you that in addition the the outlets you can see in the cockpit, galley, salon, head and master staterooms there are hidden outlets in the following places: behind the TV sets, behind the coffemaker, behind the microwave and behind the refrigerators in the galley and cockpit.

On my little ole' 250 all the 110v outlets are GFI. One in the battery switch/shore power plug compartment, one in the head, one on the side of the galley counter.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. I will be down there all day today trying to either re-wire my GFI or looking in the places suggested.

I will let you know what I find.

THANK YOU!

In addition to those, I also found one in the cockpit underneath the short seat next to the bar sink. It is covered by a weather plate which in my case is broken. I' going to replace that outlet with a new cover because I'm concerned water may get into it.

There appear to be a fair number of 370 owners here and I understand it was a very popular boat. How about an "Official 370 Thread"?

I just bought a 1995 sea ray 370 sundancer...and i love it.

My first mission was to get the boat waxed and buffed from the rub rail up. While this was being done, the power cord to the roller fell into the water and tripped the GFI...WHICH WE CANNOT FIND!!!!

So can someone PLZ tell me where the GFI is located. If its in the head, then where in the head is it. We looked high and low and couldnt find any sort of outlet, let alone a GFI.

Thanks in advance!!!

In the head it is located on the bottom side of the cabinet above the toilet, you need to get down low to see it. My wife did not know it was there until last weekend when I pointed it out to her. That is the only GFI that I have seen so far, but I have not had too many of the cabinets ripped apart yet to check for more.

Thank you all for your help!!!

We found it under the medicine cabinet and all is well.

Now its time to upgrade the clarion sound system and swap out the archaic tv/vcr combo tv's...good lord!

The way I believe the GFI is wired is ......it first goes to the circuit breaker ( labeled outlets ) in the panel.....then to the line side of the GFI in the head......then ALL the other outlets are feed off the load side of GFI (making them GFI protected ).

I also had to change the GFI in the head .......due to the fact its located in a bad spot........seems it gets wet ...if you forget to close the porthole hatch.

ckeyes06.......I hear you about the Tv/VCR combo units........I too am in the process of that upgrade.................. I just finished a add-on LCD/DVD TV.... in the cockpit........

I just picked up my 1998 370 DA around the same time in Ohio and drove it back across the Erie Canal. I found that the source of my tripping main breaker was actually the cental vac. Does yours work? Found that by resetting the breaker at the panel a couple of times my vacuum works. If not all outlets are out. Try turning the switch off on the CV and resetting at the panel.

Well, this is starting to look like the official 370DA thread!
I have encountered two GFI outlets. 1 under the medicine cabinet over the shelf behind the head. This one gets water from various leaks around the port side coaming area. The second is in a similar kind of spot, under the far right side of the galley upper cabinets. You will replace the head GFI every couple of years.

As for TV upgrades, I've been HDTV/internet enabled in both cabins for a few years now, without cutting one hole. Find my gallery. It's out of date too. I now have a 22" flat panel in the salon.
