I'm thinking of taking my 98' 210 Sundeck from a fresh water lake to the coast. I will be docking it and using it in the Inter-Coastal area around Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. This is an I/O so what precautions do I need to take. It does not have an internal cooling system so the engine will be exposed to salt and brackish water. Any suggestions or thoughts will be appreciated.
Thanks,

I'm in that area and trailer my 175 sport to the ICW. First, buy a bunch of s Salt Away or Salt Eliminator, their mixing attachment and muffs for your drive. Also buy a can of marine corrosion spray. Spray all parts of your engine with the corrosion spray every couple of months. Also spray electrical connectors under dash. Then go boating. When you are done hook up the Salt Away to the drive with your garden hose and start the engine and flush it until the dispenser goes clear. Then refill it and spray down all the exterior of the boat to rinse away any salt. Then wipe it dry with towels. That process takes me about an hour. I do all that on the trailer. Sounds like you may be wet slipped which Complicates the engine flush a bit. For engine mount water pumps such as BIII you can add a flush attachment just before the water pump.

At least that is what I do. And welcome to the area. You here for good or just for a visit?
