About to pull the trigger and buy a quicksilver 270 dingy with a hard bottom and a 15hp evenrude. . Since this is our first dingy how hard is it to get it on and off the swim platform and do most people leave the engine on the dingy all the time. Our new to us 2005 320 has a bracket on the transom for a dingy engine as the previous owner had a dingy that he kept. Thanks for any input

We have a 85-90lb RIB that sits on davits on the platform. I can muscle it up with some prior planning by myself however it's much easier with the Admiral help. It's a bit awkward to do solo as it's stern heavy so someone assisting at the bow helps. I believe our setup is about 180 lbs overall. At 90 lbs I leave the motor on at all times. The platforms height to the water is also nice as I thinks it's roughly a ft or so. No issues with getting on plane or balancing out the ride. Depends on the total weight of your setup.

I've got a 320 with a West Marine Rib 275 aluminum hull and 8hp with total with at about 190#s. I keep the engine on. I'm pulling up on Hurley davits and takes 2 of us. Very difficult by myself and not worth the strain. 15hp seems like a lot for that size dinghy 8hp on ours gets up on plane and very fast with 2. Love the aluminum hull.
