Hard start when hot, 7.4L carb ('92 270DA w/BIII)

My engine seems to start well and runs great. When we anchor for a half hour or so and then try to restart after a long run, the engine is murder to get going. Today it took many attempts to get it started, once started it runs great again. I tried no-throttle, some throttle etc. Has anyone else had a problem like this with their 7.4L?

sounds like vapor lock. try opening the hatch and running the blowers for about 10 minutes before you are planning to start up again. if she starts up more easily, that could be your problem. not easy to eradicate, if that's the prob. electric fuel pump might do the trick.
