Had been curious that it seemed our holding tank wasn't indicating a full level. Went to switch on my ignition keys and I see this big red letters stating the holding tank is full do not flush!!!!!

Never got a indication of 1/4 or 1/2 full. What can be the trouble?

However, when I pumped out, the panel did indicate "empty."

The sending unit was caught or hung up by the content sof the tank. Typical causes can be feminine hygine products, sanitary towel/wipes, condoms, Q-Tips, or that infamous Charmin Oh So Huggable TP.

Thats right shore side TP the cushy, double ply, super strong TP doesn't fall apart quickly, if ever. Shore side TP will float and matt up in the tank. This problem will continue to occur, with disasterous result at some point, unless you:

1.) open the tank and really clean the sending unit and flush out the tank (mask and gloves are advised)

2.) Train family and all visitors on the use of the head ... and let hem know you will be very cross with them if they put anyhing in your system and didn't come out of them or the TP you provide.

3.) Leave little sandwhich baggies in the head for disposal of any other stuff and make sure they know to place the bag with contents into your trash.

With our good pottie training for crew and guests, the skipper will have a very long and happy summer.

We are the only two that use the unit. And we are so so careful. That said, when the boat was out of the water, one never knows what goes on. When we got her back, all of my single barrel Jack Daniels was gone, not a drop left. And my regular Jack had about 1/4 inch left!!!!!

So the drinkers could have flushed something they shouldn't have!

I had the pro blem of the Tank Level never showing anything until about 1/2 full.

After a pump out when the tank was empty I continued to flush fresh water through the system while still pumping out.

Evidently this fresh pumping unclogged or dislodged something and when I was done the tank indicator now reported a big E. First time I ever saw it and I have used this practice ever since. I only use Marine TP and certainly no lady plugs ever go in there!

My tech told me that the indicators will not read like a gas gauge. When the fluid level hits one of the sensors it reads that level, no in between. I'm told there is no "float" in the tank just e-sensors. So....if you motor past half full, onto the way to full, you have little warning. When doing my pre-departure engine room check (I usually have a flashlight to look at everything - up close), I'll usually do a quick visual of the holding tank. You can see the level pretty clearly.
