Hey all,

It's finally warmed up enough around here to start getting the boat ready for the season, and I think it's time to replace the head. I've been getting backflow into the bowl, and it's possible that some cracks in the base fittings are even causing it to leak onto the floor.

I currently have the standard Jabsco pump head, but due to the number of inexperienced passengers I take out I'm considering switching over to a push-button system (either electric or vacuflush) rather than installing a new manual head.

Has anyone out there made the switch already? Any recommendations for a system type or brand? Any that I should definitely avoid?

Cheers!

John

I would say vacu flush as well, but the cost is up there. You also need to be concerned with fit in the bilge, wiring, bolt pattern, water supply, etc.....

Obviously, a direct replacement is easiest.

You out may want to consider the lavac.

Thanks for the replies guys. I never got the notification email so I just assumed this went unanswered. I appreciate the feedback.

Cheers,

John

I thought that "subscribing" to a thread meant you got an email every time someone replied. I know it works that way with private messages and assumed the same held true for regular posts.

We have a VaccuFlush in our 250DA - Great system. You won't regret it if you swap over.

I have a 1996 250 with 5.7lx and bravo 3. any easy way to get the boat level when cruising, instead of playing with the trim tabs constantly. I'm in the ocean most of the time? thanks Ken

Hi John,

This is an old thread so perhaps you have already replaced the head, what did you go with?
If not finished yet perhaps this might be usefull for you.

I'm also about to replace the head, though I have a portapotti with possibility to empty via the deck fitting. I guess you have a holding tank already so you won't need to rebuild a lot, as I am.

Three alternatives exist on my list.
1 - Vacuflush (but in Sweden they are too pricy so that's not a good option). Howerver, 0.5L/flush would'nt require a big holding tank.

2 - Dometic 7000-series (you fill the bowl with as much water as you'd like, probably you can get by with approx 1.2 L/flush). Electrical and can be used with easy instructions.

3 - Jabsco Liteflush (electric). 1.2L/flush with one button for filling, another klick to empy. However I read some disturbing problems that the drivebelt for the macerator tend to give up ever so often.. The last thing you'll like to do is to start messig with dismantling the toilet when not at home..

Anyway, good luck.
