Am new to this thing... just bought a 77 SRV 240 sedan bridge in nice condition, am looking for anyone else whom has one, trying to find a direc drop in replacement for the engine ( single 260 hp gas) and also the outdrive system, everything is in good working order but at some point would like to up grade to a fuel injected engine and newer drive system. any thoughs or info would be great!

Welcome aboard! If that engine is a GM based block, ie a Chevy 350, they are by far the most numerous marinized engine on the market. Many places sell new and remaned engines, do an internet search. As to the OD, is it a Merc or OMC? Merc drives are also readily available both new and reman as well as aftermarket (Sterndrive engineering). Again, do an internet search and you'll find lots of info.

Very cool boat! I had the same size SRV without the flybridge and I ended up pulling the Merc I/O and converting it to a 300hp Suzuki. If you want to stick with the I/O, I'd buy a fully paired set (engine & I/O) including transom bracket. This job will give a first hand, inside look at the integrity of your transom as well. (Hold breath, fingers crossed!) Good luck and keep us posted!
