Hi Tabman, I just got off the phone with one of Bennetts representatives. I asked for a free o-ring replacement kit for my standard style single cylinder trim tabs (two total). This is what I know. Last fall my 30' Sea Ray would not level out. The port side piston was not working properly. At the slip I checked the oil level, which was low. Added oil, operated the tabs, and noticed an oil slick developing at the transom. I tried to see from where it was coming from, but the water was churning and murky. I'm assuming one of the O-rings developed a leak, hoping it is not a cracked actuator. My boat is now winterized and wrapped. I was hoping I could receive a rebuild kit for both pistons so I could rebuild them before launch, which is coming soon. The representative I spoke with asked me where the oil was leaking from so he could send me the correct o-ring. He explained to me where it could be leaking from, this o-ring, that o-ring I have NO idea which o-ring was leaking. I told him what I told you and he kept telling me I needed to know where the leak was exactly? He told me that no kits where available at this time, so he could only send me the individual 0-ring that was leaking. All I want to do is rebuild both pistons so I don't have trouble like this again. I really don't want to disassemble and install one o-ring and leave the other old ones in. Is this typical of Bennetts to run out of kits and send individual O-rings, or did I misunderstand the free o-ring kit replacement policy? I'll just buy the kits if that's what it takes. Help me understand. Thanks, Joe

Unfortunately, the original Tabman has passed... I'm not sure if someone has picked up in his place or not.

    RIP Tabman!

We should find out if Bennett intends to have someone monitor the forum and if not close it for further posts.

I agree, MM. From what I read, Tabman was the go-to guy for any questions concerning Bennett trim tabs. Sorry to hear of his passing, Jim G.
