Hope you all cold help me. I might be relocating to the general High Point area. I will have some flexability on exact location, but most liekly within 30-45minutes from the area. What freshwater lakes are large enough for a SD340 and travel times? I like using in fresh water as my wear and tear is less.

Thanks for the help

Lake Norman, about an 1.5 hrs. Lots of marine fairly large 600 miles shoreline

You have Randalman lake, Lake Norman and High Rock. I haven't boated on any of them - but know you have to watch for bridge clearance on High Rock and Randalman has speed limits as well as other restrictions. Lake Norman would probably be your best bet but would be a bit of a drive. It would be a long haul to the coast if you decide on salt or brackish water - we visit family in Kernersville and it takes us about 5-6 hours to get there depending on traffic. You could always go west and hit the Tennessee River.

I live just outside of Winston and boat on Lake Norman. 55mi. and 55min. door to dock. Look for a marina north of the 150 bridge.... traffic. There is member on here, Scootdog that lives in Durham area that keeps his boat on the Lake.

Give me a holler when you come down and I'll give you the nickel tour. I'm sure islandhopper will want to help.

We are on Lake Norman at Kings Point Marina in Cornelius. There are many boats on our dock in the 34' range.

Thanks everyone for the help...looks like Lake Norman. Now, how about some nice towns for a family with high school and middle school children. As always, thanks.

Lake Gaston, near Raleigh is a great lake as well as Smith Mountain Lake is south western Virginia. Ther are many lake in and around central North Carolina. Check out Greensboro for a place to live
