I have a 2001 260DA and my holding tank has a leak and I'm told it can't be repaired by marine mechanic. Has anyone had their tank removed? I'm told by the mechanic, that he has to remove the manifold to get tank out. Sea Ray said it's close, but can be removed without anything being in the way. Just want to make sure I'm not getting more added costs.

I removed mine w/o removing anything else. I have a small block, so it will be a bit tighter in your case. It came out pretty easy for me - just had to twist it a certain way. I think there's a good chance it can be done in your case, but you won't really know until you try. When's the last time you had the manifolds removed and checked? It might be a good thing to do, anyways.

boat boy, search "black water tank leaking".. I started a thread on this last year, it is more than likely leaking from the corner... There is mounting hardware in each corner of the tank.. the screws rust and then start to leak. I used JB weld to stop the leak and it has been holding for a year now. I could not remove the tank as I have V drives

Okay, another question on this "crappy" subject. Tank doesn't leak any longer, however I get no reading on the monitor as to the tank level. The power light is lit on display, so assuming no fuse issue, however, no reading on the levels. Any suggestions where to start?

It's pretty common for the sensors; there are three of them on the forward part of the tank to get " gacked" up. You can unscrew them and reposition them; worked for me.

I seen the three inputs on top of the tank. When you say repositioned , what do you mean?

Each one of those inputs if for 1/4 , 1/2 and full. Just jostle them around. It's a poor design; they all exhibit this issue. Also make sure the connections are not corroded and are solid. You can check with a meter as well. I am pretty sure there a bunch if threads about this issue.

I will try to do that and check the connections. Thank you. Rob

Sdleo, thanks for the assistance. Pulled the sensors and cleaned them up and checked all connections. Appears to be working!

cool, they are a total pain in the ass; rest assured you will be doing it again; hopefully not for a while!!! have a great boating season!!

Brought the boat used last year and I never had manifolds removed, why would it be a good idea? Mine is on starboard side, I believe it can be removed in front of the engine.

If you find a solution let me know, because I have no power light at all on mine and don't know where a fuse would be for it. Drawing shows that 12 volts comes from on top of accessory fuse block to one side of overload in keyed switch panel in head. Mine doesn't look like the drawing, yet the key operates the vacuum generator, but not the macerator because I think someone disabled the relay wherever that is, since I don't have a sea cock. Mine discharges out the side.
