How do I know if I have Isinglass or Strataglass?

I want to clean my enclosure but am not certain which cleaner to use as both companies recommend a different type of cleaner. Is there a visual way to know what I have? Or is there one cleaner that is safe on either?

Isinglass and Stratoglass are the same basic material. The Statoglass is finished/polished to give a clearer more window like appearance and should have sharper appearance depending on how new it is. But once cut, it could be difficult/impossible to determine.

The most important thing is to wash with soap and water first to get the heavy dirt off as the biggest enemy is scratching them up (I wash with the same boat soap I use on everything else). The cleaners are good at spot treating to get oily deposits off, like where someone rubs up against the window with sunscreen on. Either will work just fine, or you could use a 3rd party like Plex-It.

I have both types in my boat (some older generic material and some newer Stratoglass) and I use the Stratoglass recommended IMAR cleaner on both. I'm not sure that this stuff is worth it, but I use it.

Just don't expect any of the plastic cleaners and polishes to get out fogging, scratches or discoloration from older and worn Isinglass or Stratoglass....they won't.
