The Teleflex temperature gauge commonly found on older Sea Rays has an unlabeled mark about 1/2 of the way between 145 and 220. 145 being at 12 o'clock position. What is the temperature when the needle is on the unlabeled mark? - 182 which half way between 145 and 220? or 160 for on the mark for a 160 thermostat.

i have the same gauges as andyr i would like to know what that unlabeled mark between 145 and 220 is anybody know

(145 + 220)/2 = 182.5. That's what I would go with.

It was my understanding that there would be no math

I asked a Mercruiser and even he didn't know. I'm tempted to put a 160 thermostat in just to find out.

Does it ever get up to this number on your gauge? If and when it does, shoot the thermostat housing with an LASER IR temp gun and see what it reads. I've learned this is a great tool that everyone should have on their boat.

Ditto on this tool....my Raytek MT4 is a great addition to the tool kit. Doubles as a great pointer too.

I have the same guages on my 88 weekender.I notice at plane my guages run just under or around that line.I would think it should be OK there.Where is everyone else running with these guages?

What temp thermostat do you have? I have 145 and it points right at 145 on the guage.

The laser thermometer is a must on my boat, too. The Admiral uses it to check the water temp and won't jump in until it hits 80.
