How does one remove the Clarion XMD1 complete face plate. I need to remove this unit, but I have no idea of the start procedure, nor can I find a manual which shows how to remove it.

Thanks

I’m not sure if it is the same unit I have or not, but if it is then on each side of the unit are two rubber “caps”. They come off just by pulling them forward. Behind the caps are the screws, just remove them and the unit pulls out. Be careful pulling the thing out as you don’t want to pull any pins out of the plugs… I did that and had to get a new cable/plug assembly.

I just looked at the XMD1 installation instructions. Here goes:

Once te side covers pop offOpen the CD door, look to the left and right sides of the inside of the space protected by the door. There will be a recess on each side. Insert a flat blade screwdriver into the recess. This will allow you to push the plastic tabs back that hold the side covers onto the XMD1.

Once the covers pop off there will be two screws on each side. The unit just pulls out from there.

Thanks Henry I do not have an installation chart, but from what I have been told, I remove this cover, then I can remove the face plate mounting board which is has the cutouts for the stereo unit and the 6 disk CD. Once I get the mounting board removed I just unbolt the units.

The CD looks to be just recessed with not face plate cover to remove, or does anyone know if it has a face plate which needs to be removed?

Thank-- E

Let me scan the installation sheet and email them to you. I'll use the email you gave me when we were talking about the RL80 mounting ring.

Thanks Henry, That first item is a big help already.

An extra mug of grog for you is in order. :smt043

After looking at my new system and the Clarion, thanks to Henry, I do not see any reason why if there are amplifiers in use already I cannot just use them. Both systems appear to have the same type connection out for everything

How do the shops connect the wires, solder and heat shrink, if so should I put some type of electrical anti-corrosion on before shrinking the tubing.

Or should I just use crimping on type connector male/female on the wires and plug in then heat shrink. How about the round "end to end" wire crimping barrel connector?

I am wanting to do my connections so that hopefully I will not have to worry about them later.

Thanks

I use the crimp connectors that are made with heat shrink ends. If you want to use di-electric jelly (you can buy a tube at NAPA), you can. Also some of the heat shrink connectors are made so that when they are heated besides shrinking, they release a sealing goo.

I have a searay sundancer 320, I would like to connect my Ipod to the Clarion XMD1, anyone has done this job. It is posible to connect the Ipod directly to the amplifier and listen the Ipod ?
I tryed to removed the Clarion to connect the Ipod conection, but I could no find a way to remove the Clarion XMD1 from the Panel
Do you have a installation chart or what is the best way to connect it
I dont want to change it because it sounds great.
