1050 hours. 5 years old. New plugs, oil changes, zincs, and impellers - nothing else.

How about you guys? How long do you think they'll last?

I have had the current Sea Ray for three season's now. When I got it the genny had 9 hrs on it. I just looked this past weekend when I was replacing the impeller and the zincs. It now has 246 hrs on it and runs great

Only had the 370 with a Kohler 5kw (which doesn't appear to be original to the boat) since October. I put new plugs in this spring and and an impeller this week. 1179 hours and runs great.

I've got 979, not including the 30 straight hours I ran it while in that Still Pond raft off this past weekend..............don't tell them diesel guys...........LOL

2003 5E bought the boat used in 05 with 11 hrs on the genny. now has ~1100 and runs great. had a coolant leak that I just fixed though. other than that and the fact that it burns a lot of oil, no issues.

1001 hours on a 6kw weste
Made it through a 13 hour run period over the Fourth of July...

Runs great but a tune-up is coming

Just got finished working on a 1992 quicksilver 7.5kw with 3650 hours. I have not seen one with that many before.

209 hours! 20 years old. I have made a commitment to run it more this year. Problem is, when we're anchored, there's always someone swimming and we don't want any blue children.

Since QSs are 1L Nissan automotive 4 bangers, I thought I'd do some some quick math: A Nissan can run 100K miles no prob, right? Figuring an average speed of 35mph (I made that up and have no data to back it up), that would mean a service life of around 2800 hours. Factor in that mine is governed to 1600RPM (I think), it should, if maintained properly, run well past 3000 hours. Just not in my lifetime.

'05 340, ~ 240 hrs on engines & generator. Have changed the gen impeller 4 or 5 times & spark plugs once. I can back flush the heat exchanger into a bucket to catch/find the broken vanes & replace an impeller in 15 mins.

So I'm gathering that either every else is out on their boats, or I am just about the high-timer for gas genny use. I told you guys that my goal was to get my cost per hour of the entire boat down to $20/hour. I'm doing it by spending an awful lot of time on it even though we only put about 75 hours/year on the mains.

I'm kind of surprised by the low number of hours most people have. I'm around 175. I think I put 80 or so since May with 45 hours on the engines.

Genny had 49hrs when I picked the boat up in March - tuned up - changed impeller @ 89 hrs and it now sits at 95 hrs. Not bad for the really poor weather we've been dished on Lake Michigan! John, I like your thinking of cost analysis.

I've got 17.4hrs on an '04 Kohler 5E. Just picked up the boat, and am giving it a full tune up before we head out.

1992 Quicksilver 5.0
830 hours
Changed out impeller this past weekend
10 min job
Runs Great!

Dan
How'd that impeller change go? Where did you get the part? Do you have the original pump or an aftermarket?
