Just installed the cockpit cover on my new 320da for the first time. It was really, really tight. So tight that I couldn't get everything to snap.

I understand that Sunbrella covers shrink and it will loosen up with heat, time, etc.

Any guidance on if/when I should talk to the dealer about it?

Thanks.

Did I mention it was really tight?

I assume your talking about the cover for storage. Make sure your support poles are not extended to high (long). I went thru the same thing and found if I lowered the pole height the canvas would snap on. If you already did this and it did not work sorry to point out the obvious. It kills me when someone does that to me too.

When I just got mine, it was tight as well, but manageble to get all snaps in except for a couple. I would give it a little time to settle. Try to adjust the poll hight and see if you can get the remaining snaps in. Also, if you're trying to get all snaps that are for the camper canvas, it's very possible not to have them all match. I had to get few extra ones installed that would match the cocpit cover.

cockpit cover tightness

Well Let me tell you my story... Mine was tight but not impossible. And I didn't even have poles in it... but you need to have it tight and it will stretch.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I didn't have the poles in either until I finished trying to snap it on. I'm sure it will stretch.

Coincidentally, the dealer called to say they are sending someone to the boat today to work on the punch list items so he will have the experience of putting the cover back on!

I'm trying to get out of the office in time to get over there.

PLEASE get some audio and video of the re-installation...IT SHOULD BE PRICELESS ! !

If you will wet the Sunbrella with warm water then snap it in place, it should relax enough to get it on. Let it dry on the boat and do not remove it until it is completely dry.
