I was ready to ditch the Clarion head unit on my 05' 185 for something a little more "capable".

1. I could never figure out how to manually tune the radio, I thought it was only capable of seeking.

2. I didn't think it had bass and treble adjustment (those are disabled when the "z-enhancer" is turned on).

3. Overall dissatisfactory sounding.

So I grabbed the manual and found out that it, in fact, does have manual tuning, bass and treble adjustment and when you turn off the z-enhancer and adjust the bass and treble it sounds a heck of a lot better. The one thing it's lacking though is an aux input. I think I'll just find an FM Transmitter for the MP3 player.

Hey, it only took me 3 years to read the manual :smt021

Manual, what is that? Real Guys don't read manuals..... Unless they have to :smt043:lol:

What Clarion system came on your 05?

If this thing works let me know how difficult it is to install. I have 99 BR with the same issue. If I can get away with replacing the head unit.

Unfortunately mine does not have a cassete player, just CD player which works well when in a cove but skips a lot when on the move in any chop.

Instead of getting a FM Transmitter that you tune to a radio station. they make one that goes inline with the antanae(sp). it will give you much better sound quality. Something like the in the link below, can't speak for that brand. Quality will be 100% better than a transmitter.

I can also vouch for the in-line product:thumbsup:. I added Sirius to the car and almost took it back out because the FM transmitter was a joke. Had the in-line adapter installed. WOW :wow:what a difference it made. I thought all the static and fading of the music was due to losing satellite signal. We have a lot of winding tree covered roads in the mountains of North GA.
