I think I finally found a good boat that's priced well/fair

I have to question, but why?

If it's all about the total budget, factor shipping into the cost and expand your search radius.

I don't disagree, but with this market right now the seller isn't going to factor in the cost for me, accepting a lower offer because of my travel expenses.

This is really so bad. You are better off renting boats for the next year instead of these polished turds that the patent medicine men are peddling. It is a crying shame you couldn’t buy Frank Websters 450. That was a quality boat.

I would buy a 450 in a heartbeat, looked at a few of them 10 or so years ago. I'm too tall to stand at the helm, which is a deal breaker for me now. I've lost track how many cruiser style boats I've traveled to look at and quickly realized I couldn't stand up at the helm and sometimes even in the cabin. Definitely narrows down my selection.

And this was after asking the brokers to take measurements for me since I'm 6'3. "oh yeah, there's plenty of headroom, come look at the boat"...

Man these things are popping up left and right now. Folks trying to upgrade over winter in the far north...

You pay the fuel bill, @mrsrobinson and I'll bring it over Buffalo, NY for you. You can take it the rest of the way :)

Have you looked at any Four Winns? They are few and far between but the 348/358 sounds like what your looking for. I'm 6' and plenty of room.... just not sure if there's 3" above my head!

There are few in my area, never been a fan of them.

Had a buddy, only bought 4 Winns. Reason.. he was a die hard Ford fan, only bought Fords and at time they were using Ford blocks. (OMC? Not sure, while back).

I bought my 1995 330DA in the early 2000s. The first "big boat". I was soooo excited because it had "new engines", and big ones (7.4s), v-drives and it sounded cool. I was coming from a 24' Cruiser with a 5.0. I brought it home by water, 3 hour cruise, in an ice storm. Didn't take me too long to figure out I could not stand at the helm. I also later figured out the engines were Jasper Long Blocks, raw water cooled and what a pain in the ass it was to try to get into the engine compartment to work on anything. I also had no idea it did not have a walk thru windshield. I was soooo fascinated with the electric small one and thought is was soooo cool.

I quickly installed full system fresh water cooling, since the manifolds and risers were new.

Ahhh the things we learn...

My boating bud sold his 1998 400 CATs 3216s 400DA right after COVID hit for the low 80s. I looked at it, knew the boat well, but couldn't pull the trigger for many good reasons. It sat on the market for over a year before it sold. Kicking myself now as the "good reasons then" are not "deal breakers now".

Funny how we adjust to styles. The wife and I hate walk thru windshields. Prolly why we stay with older boats. I want a gunnel to go forward.
I swear it’s the main reason, if this gets done, next boat probably be a walk-around style.

Walk thru windshield and wide side decks. The best of both worlds!

Funny you say that cause those trawlers look real good as i get older. 6mph, plow thru any seas, no canvas, the big wooden wheel like on the Pequod. Ahoy Mr Starbucks! She blows! Lower the boats! Pull ye Mateys! I love that movie.

I was referring to my Four Winns 358. Walk thru windshield and wide enough side decks. Perfect for us.

Dang, you missed a screaming deal there. Two docks down from me a 99 400, gas, sold for $120k last Spring. GAS! It did have a brand new Westerbeke onboard. And fresh water. But 80k's for a diesel during covid...there must have been some things wrong with that one...
