Hello,

There is a Sea Ray Dealer in my are who has several "new" 2007 Models still in inventory. The one I am interested in is a
250 select ex open bow. Two questions are; he is asking
$ 46,900 (with trailer) for the boat. Reasonable? The boat has the 350 motor (300 hp). Sufficient?

Thanks for any comments, advise, etc.

It Depends? (Grin)

I've got the 350Mag in my 240SD and works great even with all the stuff I carry.

Price ... In this market who knows..... Sounds good but only you can make that decision. What are they throwing in?

Full tank of gas, CG qear, anchor & rode, VHF Radio, covers, fenders, lines, etc, etc.

As Chuck said go for broke & ask for it all. All they can say is no and this is the year 2010.
Besides.....the cost of the boat is probably the cheapest part of boating

Dealer Marine Max Chelsea Piers ???????

1. What was the selling price in 2007?

2. I don't want to sound "negative", but in my opinion the boat is not new. It may have never been titled or registered, but financially speaking, as soon as you sign for it, it becomes a 3 year old boat with low hours.

I do not know what a reasonable price is for this boat.

Consider that even though it’s never been used, the moment you purchase the boat, it’s a 3 year used boat.

Contact a broker, say you have a 2007 such and such, what does he think you could get for it used after the brokers commission.

Go to a bank and see how much they would loan you on this boat.

These should help you in your quest to see if the price is a deal or not.

Thanks

The original "sticker shock price" in 2007 was $ 76,334.

Higher than base do to;

Corsa Thru Hull
Stereo Upgrade
Cover Upgrade

Note: No engine upgrade though 350 Mag Mpi III

Was the trailer included in that sticker price? What kind of trailer are they including?

Chuck,

Yep the price includes the trailer. The 350 MAG works fine for a flat-bottomed 240SD, but will it work for 250 SLX with a V Hull?

Bernie,

Here's another link you may want to read. You may also want to try a search on 250 SLX.

BTW, I was just giving Chuck a hard time. His boat does run as well.....................................

Price comments are important. However, I am equally concerned with engine capability. Not like I am going to be racing Fountains, but don't want to be under powered either.

Bernie,

Shoot 250SLX a PM and see if he responds regarding your power question. A couple of other points is where has the boat been stored the last 2-3 years? Has it been stored indoors, outdoors w/shrink wrap, outdoors w/the tonneau and cockpit covers? If it's been stored outdoors w/o shrink wrap, you may notice some oxidation and perhaps some where on covers. As Presentation pointed out, the moment you buy this boat, it will be worth little more than the rest of the '07s. So I would not be inclined to pay much more for this boat than any other used '07. The warranty is certainly worth some consideration.
