Sitting here. Weather is crappy and cold. Last several weeks have been crappier and colder. Haven't been to the boat in storage for weeks. Facility was closed the last 2 for the holidays. All I think about is going up and hanging out, inside a dark and dingy storage facility. Been looking at projects and the list keeps growing. Some of you guys got me thinking about a new sound system -- like I need that. I have massive withdraw symptoms. I am never going to make it until spring. Help. :)

I'm fixing to spend most of a day at mine next week. Get the battery charger plugged in and do some cleaning. I had done graphine on the deck last fall and it got into the nonslip and left some grey I'll take some cleaner and brush to those areas.
Not so much boat withdrawal, it's simply summer withdrawal for me.

The boat's under wraps up north and my new motorcycle showed up about a week before Christmas right after we got a good layer of snow on the roads. Thankfully, I can still snow ski, so that'll have to keep me occupied for a couple of months.

Last Friday riding with a big group of friends my wife hit a big bump in the trail lost control of the sled and wrapped herself around a tree and broke her leg in 4 places. It’s going to be a long winter for her.

It got warm here so I took the whaler out. The air temp started at 64 and the water was 43 so a combined 107 degrees. Once I hit open water the air was 45 and the water was 40. Not as pleasant. I also was navigating lots of debris in a reddish brown water.

I still cherished every minute of it.

Been waiting to get out with the sleds with my daughter. No snow since the trails opened. Snowmobiling is what gets me through winter. Been so busy with work I haven't even taken the bike out with the nice weather.
Sorry about your wife's leg. Mishap with tree could have been a lot worse though.

That's like Lake St Clair until sometime in late June. Shorts and t-shirts on shore jackets and sweatshirts out on the water. At least with our bigger boat keeping the enclosure closed helps a lot.

Man seeing you guys post about the sleds makes me really miss snowmobiling up in the Old Forge/Tug Hill. That use to make almost forget about the boat and love winter. But at least now I keep the boat in the water and can go down to the boat and tinker and keep the projects going. For me now the only good thing about winter is not having to cut the grass!

They still rent sleds up there. Might fill the void for every once in a while.

I hope she makes a full recovery

Yeah, and my friend still has his Apex's and wants me to go up. The issue is 5hrs to his house then 6+ to Old Forge. Or drive up directly at 7+ one way. Might be worth it for a week but not for the weekend. Easier to just bitch about it and reminisce ...

At least you can't break your leg while you're sitting around bitching! @Maggieiscrazy, I hope she heals well without complications.

Yep could have been a lot worse. But our group has had so many accidents injuries and wrecked sleds. Now my boys are old enough to ride their own sleds. And they’re even crazier than i was. I’m seriously wondering if it’s time to give this nonsense up before someone gets killed…?

We stay on the boat thru out the winter when the temps r not way below freezing
using electric space heaters and antifreeze to flush. Several of us rented a cabin on the dock itself that a guy used to live in. We all chipped in and remodeled it
and turned it into a bar/party room for members only. It’s not quite done but close. It cost us $600 a month plus electric and water . Infact we had a Christmas party and New Years party all ready.
This also has a kitchenette and head. In fact we always fix a good breakfast the next day.

I feel you man. I went up and walked around the harbor on Monday, that helped a bit, but still grey and chilly.

The boat show is this week. That may give you a little bit of relief. Even if you don't need anything, the smell of fresh fiberglass is always nice.

If you have the means, it really helps to get out of town for a weekend and get into some sunshine. It's a long winter.
